Fish & Co

We had been to Fish & Co. many times, be it as a couple or with the little one.  It’s one of the easier choice when we have Dawn with us, because Dawn loves to eat fish!

Here’s dawn posing with the “fish”.

And counting how many fish she has…

I love the fried calamari…and dear love the grilled ones…but he will always let me have the fried ones 😡

We order the kids’ meal size of the fried calamari but it is good enough for us. Looks delicious right? 😀

Dear order the grilled fish with spanish rice for himself and Dawn.  And Dawn kept saying “好吃!”

Fresh like the morning dew, sweet like my daily coffee…

…because we made it happen.

Fast as it can be, we had been together for 2 years.  Though cannot compare to my sister’s 12 years of marriage (which I envy leh! They are both still a sweet couple!), but we have both came a long way.

It wasn’t easy for any of us – me having to struggle with emotional baggages & burdens, plus all the worried thoughts that was resulted from the awful past experience; he having to do alot of explaining and convincing in the initial days, learning how to carry a baby and play like a kid, and rushed to send me home after a quick and short dinner because I have to be a Nine-derella.

I am not sure what’s in for us 50 years down the road, why him and why me, but I know there must be a reason for bringing us together.  Though we can have different perspective of things (and of 2 different extreme ends), I can’t help but notice that we can think of the same thing when we are physically at different places. Many a times, our smses met in the frequency realm because we both thought of each other and typed the SMS at the same time.

And so the relationship still smell so fresh everyday like breathing the morning dew, and the sweetness linger with the booster I need daily just like my coffee.

We are not able to meet on the actual day because he had class after work, and so we met 2 days later for a dinner.  The least expected, and the sweetest moment was, he walked towards me from his office building, with my favourite flower in his hands. Can’t stop smiling after that. 😀

We had a good dinner @ Thai Express Holland Village. The food is nice, service is good, and I still cannot forget the big meatball and the stuffed chicken. I had the fried Kway Tiao and he had his favourite Olive rice (with lots of chilli!).  I enjoyed the time of catching up and I think I talked alot that night…haha!

I still have many conversations that I want to hold.  I still want to travel around.  I want to share all the bits of my life.  All with him.  And of cos with Dawn.

Christmas is Coming!

It’s tha time of the year again, happy because there’s more holidays in that month and half days for the eves.  Yeah! ;p

Dawn watched Barney’s VCDs and she was taught about Christmas. She was so excited to point out the Christmas trees at the shopping malls!

She can’t wait to take photo with the Christmas Tree @ Jurong Point even thought it is still work-in-progress.

Dim Sum @ Canton-i

After seeing my beautiful pictures of the chawsiew & the roast pork, dear craved for the meat again. So we went back to Canton-i, but this time we wanted to try the Dim Sum.

The quantity of the meat is disappointing. It seem lesser this time round. But the prices is still the same -.-  Fortunately the meat still taste as good, if not it will be  so disappointing.

P1010325

A platter of meat with their sauces. Guess what’s the sauce on the right?

P1010326

Woooo nice meat! Fatty and good!

P1010327

Roast pork! Slurp!

We also ordered the various Dim Sum and we had a very good meal because most of the items tasted good!

We love the lotus rice (糯米饭)!  The texture of the rice is just so right. Soft but chewy, and there’s salted egg inside! 😀

P1010329

P1010339

The chinese noodles (猪肠粉)is also stuffed with good quantity of chaw siew and the “粉” is soft and “melts” in the mouth.

P1010333

I don’t know what this is  called, but I think we ordered something that sound like a “dumpling”.  Was regretful when the dish was first served to our table.  However, after I bit on it, I think we had made a good choice.  The “cover” is made by 糯米粉, and it is so soft that I think I was decieved by it’s look.  However I do think that the filling can be alittle more.

Next, the cha siew pau! I am not a pau person, but looking at Dear & Dawn enjoyed the pau, I think they taste good.

P1010343

P1010347

I love their Siew Mai too! Full of meat and makes me feel that it’s worth paying for them. Haha!

P1010344

The carrot cake and the chicken feet tasted normal because I had tasted better in other places. :p

P1010335

P1010345

I also had the ice milk tea and dear had the hot tea.

Nice meal, but not too good for the pockets ;p

Akashi Japanese Restaurant

I forgot where I had that very nice white bait and dear reminded me that it’s from Akashi @ Paragon. And yes I had been craving for it and through these months, I had tasted the white baits of different restaurants but none is the same as the ones I had in Akashi. (And the worst so far was from Canton-i :< )

So here’s the very very nice white baits.  Though is fried, the inside is very soft and the white bait is very sweet! I can just finish the whole plate by myself 😀 But we do realised that the serving is much lesser than the time we first had it.  Haiz..inflation sucks!

close up of the white baits!

We also ordered the  cold cucumber with miso paste. This is our favourite dish in Nirai Kanai but the miso paste is really in paste form.  So when the waitress delivered this to us, we stared at the miso beans.  I was alittle deceived by the look but I could not stop myself from attacking this dish after the 1st bite.  The cucumber is so fresh and crunchy and it’s so refreshing.  It served as a good appetizer and I think it will be a good dish with beer too.

akashi5

I had the udon set and Dear had the Saba set.  Actually he had wanted to order another set but the waitress had heard him wrongly.  Well, he seems fated to eat Saba anyway. :p

Hard work

What comes into your mind when you see or hear this?

dad working1

~ Very noisy leh! Stop disturbing my afternoon nap!

~ Dusty leh! Better close the windows or all the dust comes into my house!

~ Why everyday also dig de! Dig here liao then dig there, cannot stop de meh?

and the list goes on…the above speaks your mind?

Well…there must be reason for all the digging lah, incase you are wondering.  And bear this in mind, the people who are doing all the hard work under the hot sun, they didn’t like it either. But they have mouths to feed..

And one of the mouths was me…

Yap, that’s my dad profession. I used profession because does your dad know how?  If it’s not something of a common knowledge or skill, then my dad is indeed skillful and professional enough.  Just like not everyone can be certified as an accountant, nor as a doctor or a lawyer, same goes to the one who operate that machine!

He’s my dad, and I am proud of him!

In Singapore : Part 1

When I came back from Japan and was walking though the streets of Singapore one day, I came to realise that I had missed out a big part of Singapore. Partly because I had lived in Singapore since birth and the tendency to say “Singapore is small and boring” was much influenced and perceived.

So I was walking from Suntec City back to Raffles Place MRT Station; and the usual way for most people was to walk though the CityLink underpass where there are various shops lining through the tunnel. I guess this is the usual case because the weather here is too hot to bear most of the time, plus the fact that shopping is the common activity in Singapore.

Instead of walking the underpass this time, I took the “sunny” way and  walked passed the The Civilian War Memorial.  And it hit me at that moment that I almost forgot of its existence.

P1000958

I remembered I learnt alot of this during my school days of Social Studies and History subjects. This forms a very precious part of our history.  Wonder how many youngsters still know the existence of this?  The images or experience of war could be something so far away from our generation but can you imagine the pain that our forefathers had went through? Selfish thought, but I really do wish that I never have to go through war of any kind in my lifetime.

P1000957

This is the very tall memorial.
