How comfortable!
I posted about Dawn’s car seat a few weeks ago. See how comfortable she is in the car seat!
Arcade!
I think kids nowadays are too smart. They know what’s “Arcade” at a very young age!
Though “unfortunately”, Dawn gets to know what arcade is and loves to go there, we limit the frequency and time in the arcade. Hopefully by the time she’s in primary school, she has already grown sick of arcade..haha! As parents, I personally think that we cannot stop kids from all these multimedia exposure, or restrict them from engaging and playing them. The more we restrict, the more they will yearn to want it. My mother used to scold me for exposing Dawn to PS3, iphone games, computer games etc too early and said that Dawn will not want to study next time….however, till now, Dawn has started to get bored with iphone games (even new games!), PS3 and the old computer games and will stop when she felt that she has enough of them for a session. Issn’t it good that kids learn how to stop playing when they have enough then to keep nagging them to stop?
Anyway, this is Dawn playing the drum game in children’s arcade, and she is very good at it!
Dawn’s 1st Sport’s Day
As I was on maternity leave, I went to Dawn’s sports day at her child care centre.
What surprised me was the performance that started off the sports day, and Dawn was one of the performers! I am really glad that I had made the choice to attend the sports day.
A Beautiful Banner made :

With her pong pong :
Look at her shaking her little bum! So cute right! In case you can’t spot her, she is the one standing at the 2nd row and just below the Sports Day Banner.
She participated in 2 games and she’s a fast runner! 😀

Well done Dawn!
Car Seat
We just bought an Off Peak car for easy transportation during the nights and weekends. With 2 children under the age of 8, we have to buy 2 car seats each for them.
As Dawn is 4 years old, she can use a booster or a car seat. However, hubby brought up a point about the head side cushions may reduce any collision impact. And I suddenly thought of having the side cushions can also allow Dawn to rest her head if she falls asleep in the car. Thus, we decided on getting a proper car seat for her.
Hubby researched and read up reviews and finally decided to get Britax Parkway SG.
Bought this from Kiddy Palace. Too bad they don’t have the pink one!
And Dawn loves her car seat. 🙂
My pretty little girl
Dawn has become elder sister since 25th March 2011. The initial days when we came home from hospital, she was unsettled and fighting for attention.
Though tired, both of us had tried our best to give the required attention to her. But I can’t deny that sometimes the demand is so huge that I became short-tempered as well.
It’s been 2 weeks since Eva is here. Dawn has been a good jie jie and a loving daughter. Many a times, I can see that she is trying to help out her busy parents with Eva but does not know how to. To the extend when Eva cried, she will shout for us and tell us “You carry her”. Sweet little girl, right?
In the morning, she goes to school willingly and didn’t came into my bedroom to disturb my sleep, because she knows that “mummy takes care of Eva whole night and didn’t get to sleep”, what more can I ask for??
I love you darling and you are always mummy’s precious. I believe daddy feels the same too. Thank you for loving us and being the sweet little girl! muacks!
Our 3D2N Stay – Mount Alvernia Hospital
…. in Mt Alvernia Hospital…haha!
I think this stay is expensive, We can go HK 3D2N stay for 4-5 times with the same amount of money spent… ><;
Had previously requested for a normal single room (as my loving hubby wanted me to rest well and also to accompany me hehe), but by the time I delivered Eva, all the single rooms are taken already and we were asked to decide on Single room Deluxe or double room. The nurse told us that the double room will still be double room (which is different from what was stated in the brochures – in the event that single rooms are not available, a double room will be converted to a single room) and so hubby decided on the deluxe room.
The difference between a single room and a single deluxe room was carpeted flooring & different views (one facing expressway and the other facing buildings). Haiz, made us spend more money 🙁
The couch is where hubby slept and he had to pay $75 per day for the meals and staying overnight.
Food! Forgot to take photo of my dinner on the 1st day ‘cos was too hungry. Was given Confinement food – I remember it’s the pork vinegar and a veg dish. Can’t remember what my hubby had.
My 2nd day breakfast – Mee Tai Bak soup :
Hubby’s breakfast – look so good right? I always like American breakfast!
My 2nd day lunch, the minced pork tasted funny.. 🙁

My 3rd day breakfast, this is the best meal that I had there….the pastry is so good!!
Hubby’s breakfast :
I finished all the herbal soup provided. But they tasted like got MSG 🙁
Oh ya! I love the sandwich vending machine at the 1st floor of the Hospital. It’s by Hotbake and the sandwiches are really nice!! Hubby bought me on the 1st day and bought it again for my suppers! Yummy!
We received hampers and gifts from friends, colleagues and our companies during our stay.
From my team – something which became our best friends for both hubby and me during the 1st week. Ber also gave us chicken essence~ They know we needed them!
From hubby’s company :
And the things inside the hamper :
From my company, a baby rocking chair 🙂
Junhui gave us a angbao and Wen & Rine gave us a bag of diapers and a romper for Eva. Thanks to all these thoughtful friends!
Finally went out of the room to visit the nursery on my 3rd day there before I was discharged.
Didn’t know that Babies’ mothers can enter the nursery one…
Can you spot Eva?
There she is, the one in the center as we are going home soon!
This is my gynae, Dr Fong Yang. Both Dawn and Eva are “caught” by him. hehe
So what did Mt A gave us?
An Agnes B look-alike diaper bag – which is big and good. What I like is the zip opening is wide and big, easy to find and take things in and out. And lucky I asked my sis to help me buy a diaper bag organiser from China – cost me 70 cents only. It’s like $10-20+ in Singapore!
Inside the bag there’s a big bag of reading materials, samples such as diapers, baby shampoo etc.
Mt A also have the left over diapers, this time round is Huggies. Dawn’s time was Pampers! And also the left over wet tissues and the bath tub.
Dawn’s time still got a T-shit, a gold coin and a receiving blanket…they don’t give these out anymore.
Oh, there’s a free gift to be collected from the pharmacy too – they gave us an Avent NB pacifier.
And that’s the end of our 3D2N stay in Mt A. Back at home now having confinement. 🙂
Something to share with mummies who are reading this blog..remember to ask for glass bottles from the nurses if you intend to use the glass bottles to store breastmilk. I like the glass bottles because the size is just right to feed baby during their first few months. You can buy the caps and seals from the pharmacy @ 1st floor.
Also to ask for sample formula milk – it’s free. They won’t give much, gave me 2 only, but it’s good to have it on standby or it’s just good for saving money! :p
3rd thing, remember to get the powder for putting on baby’s umbilical cord from the PD who does daily visits checks on your baby. It’s important as it might be too late to get when you revisit the PD in 3 days or a week time. I learned this from my experience with Dawn. Eva’s umbilical cord was taken care very well as the powder kept it dry. It dropped off on the 6th day.
Eva’s birth story
Finally a little time to do a little post..It’s been a tiring 1.5 weeks!
Eva’s birth story –
22 March 2011 (Tues) : Went for my gynae appoint, the scanned weight was 3.1kg. Told Dr Fong that I want to try for induce. Reason? Do not want Eva’s birthday to fall on 1st April or the Qing Ming period. Besides, I am getting very tired with the weight that I have to carry. The anxiety of when and how labour will start also started to be more tense at home..so it’s better to get Eva out with a scheduled date.
24 March 2011 (Thurs) : Tried to clear all pending work and handover. Left work on the dot. After dinner and washing up, finished the rest of the packing. Brought Dawn back to Jurong and Hubby brought me to Jurong Point to eat Mos Burger :p Was craving for their fish burger and Carl’s Junior Onion Rings, but by the time we reached, Carl’s Junior was already closed. So we settled for Mos Burger and took a cab from Jurong Point to Mt A at about 10 pm +
11pm : Reached Mt A. Wanted to sit at the registration area to wait for 12am, but was asked to go up to the delivery ward. Was concerned whether I will be charged another day and they assured me no. The nurses in delivery ward were nice and told us that they want to settle me 1st as later 12am there will be alot of mothers coming in..haha! But they reminded my hubby to only do admission after 12am.
11pm-12am : was asked to change, check urine, strapped on CTG machine, asked about my medical history and administered Enama, was asked to hold at least 10 mins, but couldn’t even hold for 5mins and rushed to the toilet. :p
25 March 2011 (Fri) 12am : Nurse administered the induce tablet, told me that baby’s head still quite high.
1am – 7am : Couldn’t sleep, maybe because of the anxiety, maybe because of hubby’s snoring (hehe). Didn’t feel any painful contraction like Dawn’s time.
7am – 9am : Was served porridge for breakfast (better than Dawn’s time! Was only given biscuit and milo!), Discussed with hubby whether we should go for cesarean if Dr Fong says there’s no dilation at all (as I did not feel any painful contraction).
9am + : Dr Fong came, checked me and told me that I am 3cm dilated! And I can go for natural birth and baby will be born today! Then he wanted to break the water bag, I was like, HUH, no, I haven’t get my epidural yet! Dr Fong insisted and asked nurse to passed me the gas and he broke the water bag..Felt the gush of water coming out…no pain la…hehe
10am + : The doctor who administer Epidural finally came. I still wasn’t feeling much painful contraction but from the CTG machine I can see that the contraction had became more.
1.30pm : Time past so slow, heard alot of baby cries and wonder when’s my turn. The CTG machine showed that the contraction is getting more intense and more (the bottom waves @ the paper)
2pm : The nurses came in and started to prepare the equipment. They also started to prepare me and asked me to try pushing a few times to see whether my pushing technique is correct.
210pm : Dr Fong came and dressed. Asked me to hold on while he dressed..haha!
218pm : 2 waves of contraction with 2 pushes each waves, Eva is out! 🙂 Hubby was standing on my right and holding on to my shoulder, encouraging me. He later said that it’s very amazing to see Eva’s head came out first, then shoulder, then the body. 🙂 I felt a great relieve from my tummy after Eva’s legs were out. The feeling was quite shiok! 😀
